NTT Docomo working at the edge of technology
Well, third generation (3G) has been deployed in various part of the world for a number of years already, (this exclude the US, which they claim they are high-tech, but always lag on phone technologies...), of cuz ppl have been asking, what's next?
Well, the so-called 4G standard, officially named the WiMax (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is supposed to be the next big thing for mobile phones. In the consumers point of view, not only you'll get faster speed (that means you can actually watch a full movie with a much larger resolution than wut you have in 3G), you will also get better coverage, even in hard to reach area, or at time of high call volume. Well, to me, I think it'll help further eliminating the need to have a landline at home, and probably you can cancel your high speed internet altogether as well...
So, when can we enjoy WiMax? To no surprise, NTT Docomo in Tokyo will be the first one to test it out according to EE Times. So, I am guess in the very near future, we'll shopping for a whole new breed of cellphones again...
