It's a new year indeed!
Watching the news for the past weeks, I cant help but notice that there are a lot of keynote conference from tech companies and the CES being held. Together, these companies shape our future lives by providing us the next generation technologies. These companies include:
Intel announcing their Intel VIIV, video-on-demand technology, their new dual-core architecture to compete with AMD, and of cuz, their new logo, which to me, symbolize the whole will be ruled by Intel products in the future (according to the official Intel description, the new logo is to strenghten their brand imagine, which according to them, is core to a lot of other brands)
Microsoft announcing their Windows Vista, an OS that they claim can boot up in less than 10 secs (we'll see about that), and their not so new X-box 360.
Google announcing Google Video, which kinda partner with Apple for IPod with video, and rumors about Google PC, which got shot down immediately by the chairman. They also introduce Google Pack, a new way to pack softwares for easy installation.
Dell announcing their quad-video processing machine, which hosts an overclocked 4.2GHz CPU, 4 super-fast 3D-accelerated video cards, a 15000rpm, 150G harddrive, 2 7500rpm 250G harddrive (if I am not mistaken) and sell for US$4000-7000, and their concept mobile PC, which you can flip and carry with a handle (y not just get a laptop in that case?)
Pioneer announcing their HD year, which consist of 50-inch HD plasma, which is gigantic for a TV, and blue-ray burner/player, which can burn upto 25Gb of data on a single disc.
HANNSpree's keynotes focus on huge LCDs with futuristic designs.
Samsung introduce a bunch of multimedia gadgets like ultra-thin flash (MP3) players, cellphones, portable video players, huge TVs, Blue-ray players, and even smart dryers for clothes.
Song reveals the W810i, and the new VAIO series laptops, featuring ultra-thin and ultra-light laptops, and of cuz, the PS3, HDTVs, DVs, and blue-ray DVDs, and announcing 8Gb of memory-stick in 2006.
LG of cuz wont be left out of the HDTV contest. They announce their 71-inch plasma, even Full HD 102' plasma, and some fancy home theatre systems.
Motorola introduce their new cellphones, which include RAZR, ROAR with iTune, and even thinking about partnering with Google. Their also show some new bluetooth headsets, and home electronics like anti-theft device, home phones and stuff. and of cuz, some blackberries.
Philips also focus on HDTVs and blue-rays, plus some intro to home music systems without a PC.
Toshiba built a 4G harddrive that's the size of a quarter.
ATI announces the first HDTV tuner for PC.
Yahoo will be selling something called "Seamless experience" which is supposed to perfect ur PC experience with easy access to information from Yahoo.
Judging from all of these announcements, I can only imagine in the near future, our lives will be filled with one touch buttons, that directly control home theatre systems which plays video, musics in high quality pictures and sound, combining with the internet, we, or our children will be facing another information overwhelmed!
Is it a good or bad thing that information can be so easily accessible at our finger tips? I guess no one can surely conclude.
