IEEE 802.11n is standardized!

It's been a while for IEEE to determine the new WiFi standard. The two fighting proposals: 802.11n, which is backed up by Intel and Philips, and WWiSE (World-Wide Spectrum Efficiency), backed up by Broadcomm. IEEE was expected to finalize the selection at the second half of 2006, but things took at rough turn, and the decision is made a lot sooner than expected:

The new WiFi standard, 802.11n is officially standardized.

Compared to its predecessor, the 802.11g, 802.11n will be working with at least 100Mbit/s, and can be 4 times faster. It also extends the range of coverage by 80% compared to 802.11g.
