Time to adapt Mac OS X, and abandon Windows...

Finally, I've finished all my grad course for my PhD studies. So, as kinda a reward, my supervisor is giving budget to buy a new laptop! Yay!

Right now, I am stucked with the choices of either an IBM T42, and the Powerbook 15' from Apple. It's a tough decision, PB15 seems to be a better choice. It has better hardwares, and I can have a higher budget for it. However, it's on Mac OS X, instead of the usual Windows operating system that IBM T42 has. I have never used Mac OS X in my life, so I am kinda hesitating to change to a new environment. After all, this laptop will be my home machine, which I not only use for research, but for my dialy computing needs.

I've found out that you can actually have an emulator for the Mac OS, so that I can still have windows application on the Mac OS, and it turns out the school also has license to the software. Nice! So, I guess now I have 90% chance of getting the powerbook!

The powerbook is a sweet deal, I tell you. It's beautiful on the outside, powerful on the inside! I can hardly wait any more to get my hands on this new toy! haha.

Well, now that all my course works are done, I can finally stay focus on my research. I have not been working with my full focus in the last few months on my research, making me behind schedule on tons of things. Got to work extra hard now so that I can have a decent holiday later on in June!

Wish me luck!

PS. From now on, I will try to write my diary in English, instead of the usual chinese. Since, as I found out, more and more of my foreign friends are interesting in knowing what my life is like (strange, eh?) So, in the hope of getting this blog into the international standard, got to stick with English!
